| Semi-Quantitative Ash (Fillers) Analysis Description: |
| In ASTM D 297, the amounts of fillers are determined, but not the types or the percent of each type. Flame atomic absorption is used to determine the type of cations and the percent of each cation in the ash. Knowing the chemical structure of the fillers used in elastomers, thermosets and thermoplastics, one can calculate the amount of each type of filler used in the formulation. |
