ASTM D 297, Item 24
Standard Test Methods for Rubber Products-Chemical Analysis

Wax Content (Waxy Hydrocarbons, Paraffin, Microcrystalline) Description:

Waxy hydrocarbons, paraffin or microcrystalline types, migrate to the surface of the elastomer forming a protective film at the rubber surface minimizing the effects of ozone. Measurement of the wax content is useful since its solubility is different in different elastomers or in the same elastomer with different fillers or plasticizer levels. (This test is not included with ARDL's standard or complete chemical analysis since it is not present in many cases.) It is reported and the parts per hundred of rubber hydrocarbon is estimated on the reconstructed formulation of ARDL's complete chemical analysis, if it is present.

ARDL can test to additional standardized specifications as well as custom specifications. If you are interested in a method that is not listed here, please do not hesitate to call (330) 794-6600 or toll free (866) 778-ARDL to find out if we can perform your test. Chances are we can help and if not, we may know someone who can.
