Tensile Properties
Tensile and elongation testing measures the force required to break a specimen and the extent to which the specimen stretches or elongates to that breaking point. Tensile tests produce a stress-strain curve that is used to determine the tensile modulus.
According to ASTM, “tensile set represents residual deformation which is partly permanent and partly recoverable after stretching and retraction.” The data is often used to specify a material, to design a part that will withstand application force or to maintain quality control. ARDL provides tensile and elongation testing for rubber, thin film plastics, rigid plastics, PTFE materials and thermoplastic materials.
